Inis Arden Hillside House
Modern RETREAT ON A STEEP SLOPE - new construction
Shoreline, WA, On the board
Innis Arden Hillside House is an exciting venture—a 3,000-square-foot single-family residence set on a dramatic 65% slope in the Innis Arden community of Shoreline, Washington. Oriented toward sweeping views of Puget Sound, the design responds thoughtfully to the site’s challenges and opportunities.
Framed by substantial retaining walls, a series of courtyards wraps the home—creating intimate gardens uphill while opening to expansive, distant views of Puget Sound downhill. The result is a quiet dialogue between modern living and the natural landscape.
Steep-slope projects always challenge us, but it’s these constraints that push our creativity further.
