Ueda Design Studio is a creative design firm with family-like atmosphere located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. We are dedicated to designing beautiful, modern, comfortable, and energy efficient homes with creative ideas often inspired by Japanese traditional architectural elements. Our firm currently has several interesting projects on the board, and we expect significant growth these coming years. We are moving to our new (and cool!) office this year! This is an exciting moment to join the team. We are looking for talented, positive, and motivated individuals who love to work in our team and grow with us!

Currently, the following positions are open;

 

Project Architect (minimum 5 years of working experience in the related field required)

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assists project teams in development of the aesthetic and technical design and the preparation of architectural design and construction documents including drawings, graphics, and specifications.

  • Supports multiple projects of different sizes, phases, and budgets.

  • Keeps Project Manager and Principal in charge informed of progress.

  • Participates in site planning and building design exercises.

  • Develops and documents design concepts and unique technical details.

  • Performs building code reviews to assure compliance.

  • Assists in the production effort on projects from the Pre-Schematic Phase through Construction Documents.

  • Coordinates the work of consultants, reviewing and developing technical details and strategies that advance high performance design and systems integration, in support of sustainable design certifications.

  • Mentors junior staff.

  • Works in the construction administration phase

  • Supports firm’s marketing efforts and administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENT:

  • Working experience at an architecture firm for minimum 5 years

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or another related field.

  • Excellent skill with REVIT and putting CD sets together

  • Technical proficiency in detailing knowledge of building systems.

  • Excellent design and communication skills; verbal, written, and graphic.

  • Technically strong enough to provide guidance to junior staff in the team.

  • Detail and task-oriented with a passion for excellence.

  • Excellent team player

  • Desire to grow into a project manager position in one to two years.

  • Excited to be a part of a start-up architecture firm.

  • Positive thinker with strong motivation and great sense of humor.

  • Interested in Japanese architecture (both traditional and contemporary).

  • We require all employees to be COVID-19 vaccinated.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Great knowledge and interests in building science and sustainable designs.

  • Experience working with high-end residential projects.

  • Experience with construction administration.

  • Fluency in Japanese or Spanish is a big plus.
