Japanese Consulate Official Residence Restoration

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

The Official Residence of the Japanese Consulate General in Seattle is a historic building in Queen Anne, built in 1906. The original south facade suffered extensive water and sun damage over the last century.

Ueda Design Studio worked to restore the south facade in order to extend the life of this historic building while maintaining its original character. The solution was a high performance rain screen system with stucco cladding, composite fly ash trim, and weatherproof architectural moulding. This restoration gives the historic residence a new life as the face of Japan in Seattle.
